What are the main reasons why people hated and still despise Jews?
Looking back, I think it is clear that people with high scores in the Dark
Triad (narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy) are the ones who planned
and executed (!) all these heinous crimes during the Third Reich (and before).
Dark Triad:
- Narcissism is characterized by grandiosity, pride, egotism, and a lack of empathy.
- Machiavellianism is characterized by manipulation and exploitation of others, an absence of morality, unemotional callousness, and a higher level of self-interest.
- Psychopathy is characterized by continuous antisocial behavior, impulsivity, selfishness, callous and unemotional traits (CU), and remorselessness.

However, I doubt that millions of Nazi followers and war crime contributors
would score high enough on these traits. Does that means they could be characterized
as ‘just weakly’ Dark Triad persons?
For sure, most (if not every fully conscious) human being is (at least in principle) able to understand and possibly also to express emotional states and actions) that can be described using the terminology of the so-called seven ‘deadly sins’. Their expressions are:
Avarice / Greed / Envy / Jealousy / Wrath / Rage / Hubris / Arrogance / Grandiosity / Egoism
So, do racists possess (!) and express all of them or just some?
I believe
that in regard to anti-Semitism, they do ‘own’ such personality traits and are willing
to ‘let them out’ – at least for a certain period of time … but this would mean they are
controllable (?), switched on and off, could be dormant for some time and easily
be reawakened (as would be the case for nowadays anti-Semitism and related conspiracy
theories).
For sure, we have to differentiate between (religiously motivated) Anti-Judaism,
racial anti-Semitism (since the 19th century), and political Anti-Zionism
(since 1948). Yes, things are complicated and intricate/interwoven (as we all
know).
