Therefore, Luna is a cat. Response: What you just said is not true. Not all
animals with four legs and a fur are cats. Therefore, Luna is not a cat.
(Argumentum ad logicam).
If I live in Seattle, I live in the United States of America. Currently, I am in the United States of America. Therefore, I live is Seattle.
A burglar
broke in last night in the house next to us. Jim never had money, but now he
drives a new car. So, he must be the burglar.
The menu is
served either with bread or with rice. Alice does not like bread. Therefore, Alice
ordered rice. (No, because Alice ordered neither of them).
Our
universe cannot come from nothing, therefor it must have been created by God.
Logical induction: also God cannot come from nothing therefor must have been
created by another God, and so on. (Special Pleading)
Scottish
people do not behave badly. The next day, the newspaper reports: a Scottish
person murdered someone downtown. Therefore, the criminal is no real Scott.
(No-Scot of False Scot argument).
The African
school systems is not as good as the European one. Therefore, Kamali cannot
have a good school education.
I fell off
a ladder. Then I saw a black cat walking by. This was the cause for my
mishappening. (two events that happened around the same time are being linked
together; for the Latin aficionados: cum
hoc ergo propter hoc).
If a region
has a lot of storks, families have more children than in regions with less
storks. (sure, rural regions have more storks, and more farmers, who tend to
have more kids; wrong correlation).
All birds
can fly. (In Philosophy called Accident = focusing on attributes that are not
essential. Example: Penguins are seabirds that cannot fly).
